M&M Mountain Dogs started innocently enough, from my love of the breed. I, Michele LaBagh have loved this breed since nine years of age, while my parents bred/showed/field trialed & judged AKC Brittany Spaniels.

Somehow a Bernese Mountain Dog did not fit into their picture and I had to show and compete with Brittany Spaniels. Then I married my husband, Michael, who also had Brittany Spaniels. Ch. Halidom Davos V Yolderhof CD was my first experience with Bernese and he touched my heart in a way that will make me love the breed forever. He was my dream of what a Bernese Mountain Dog should be.

I originally purchased my first Berner, Missy, for my twin sons, Mike and Max. She was from the Halidom Line of Bernese Mountain Dogs that I admired as a little girl. We took her home on Mother's Day in 1996 and the story has never ended. She is their protector, teacher and baby-sitter. She has given us more than we could ever give her, and has proven to be more than we ever expected! Competitively, Missy was unbelievable for a first dog; American & Canadian Conformation Championships, High in Trials in Obedience, Draft Titles, Agility Titles, Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog Title, Versatility Titles and Working Dog Titles. We are sure that while she plays grandma to our occasional puppies, she is not done with her jobs yet! So our forever puppy has given us beautiful, healthy Champion prodigies to carry on our work with this breed. That work is to breed and compete with dogs that grow better from each breeding. We also have superior temperaments which are a blessing to all the pet homes they share. I contribute that to my boys bomb proofing our puppies from birth. I couldn't do it without them. Children and dogs are the greatest combination on earth.

We have about one litter a year and still compete with all the dogs that live with us. As our numbers are growing, we can't give an exact count of the dogs we own. However, all of our dogs are in homes where they are extremely loved and cared for and correspondence is kept at all times between owners and myself, the breeder. All of our dogs are required to be certified for all OFA Clearances (Hips, Elbows, Heart & Thyroid), VWD Clear & CERF Eye Clearances to promote health and longevity. All of our dogs are home raised and Therapy Dogs too which make them quite special to us and the people that enjoy them. We also have one dog who is a Service Dog which makes us quite proud! All Bernese need a job, this is what makes their life complete!

I am sure this is a bond between Bernese Mountain Dogs and my family that will grow a lifetime. We are members of the BMDCA and have attended five National Specialties as a family. This is a vacation my kids look forward to every year. I wish that every owner could have a dog as wonderful as our Missy to start with. She has taught us how to be good Bernese Mountain Dog Breeders and a guardian of this breed. So there you have it... M&M Mountain Dogs and who can't resist M&M's?!?
